How Our Custom Lehenga Process Works

A custom lehenga should fit your body, your occasion, and your personal style—not just follow a standard size chart. At Anvi Couture, we work with you from the first design discussion to the final fitting so you know what is being made and why.

1. Consultation

Visit the Anvi Couture studio or book a video consultation. Tell us about your occasion, preferred style, budget, colours, and any inspiration images you have. We use these details to understand the look you want before suggesting fabrics or embroidery.

2. Design & Fabric Selection

Choose from fabrics such as silk, raw silk, velvet, organza, net, and georgette. We discuss the fall, structure, comfort, and suitability of each fabric before finalising the design, colours, embroidery placement, and silhouette.

3. Measurements

We take your measurements carefully at the studio. If you are ordering remotely, our team can guide you through the measurement process so the required measurements are taken correctly.

4. Hand Embroidery

Once the design is approved, our karigars begin the hand embroidery. Depending on the intricacy of the work, bridal and heavily embroidered lehengas generally take around 3–5 weeks to complete.

5. Trial & Final Fitting

Before completion, we check the fit and make necessary adjustments. Once the lehenga is approved, it can be delivered within Kolkata or shipped across India and internationally, subject to the destination and delivery requirements.

Embroidery Styles We Specialise In

At Anvi Couture, we select embroidery according to your lehenga design, fabric, occasion, and preferred level of detailing. From traditional bridal handwork to lighter festive embellishments, each technique creates a different look and feel. Knowing the difference can help you choose embroidery that suits your outfit, comfort, and celebration.

Zardozi

Zardozi is a rich form of embroidery that uses metallic threads, beads, stones, and decorative elements to create an elaborate finish. It works especially well on bridal lehengas when you want a regal, luxurious look. Depending on the design, zardozi can be used across the entire lehenga or concentrated around the blouse, border, or dupatta for a more balanced finish.

Kantha

Kantha is traditionally associated with Bengal and is recognised for its distinctive running-stitch embroidery. Its handcrafted, artistic character makes it a beautiful choice when you want something more understated and culturally rooted. Kantha embroidery works particularly well for mehendi, haldi, daytime weddings, and lighter festive lehengas where comfort and individuality matter.

Resham Thread Work

Resham embroidery uses fine silk threads to create delicate floral, botanical, and decorative motifs. Compared with heavier metallic embroidery, resham gives the lehenga a softer and more refined appearance. It can be used to create subtle detailing or layered patterns, making it versatile for bridal, reception, engagement, and festive outfits.

Gota Patti & Sequin Work

Gota patti and sequin embroidery are ideal when you want festive sparkle without making the entire lehenga heavily embroidered. Gota patti creates decorative metallic patterns, while sequins add light-catching shimmer to the fabric. They work beautifully for sangeet, reception, engagement, and festive celebrations, especially when you prefer a lighter lehenga with noticeable movement and shine.

Lehengas for Every Occasion

The right lehenga depends on more than the occasion—it should also suit the venue, time of day, level of formality, comfort, and your personal style. At Anvi Couture, every lehenga can be custom-made around these details, with your choice of fabric, colour, silhouette, embroidery, blouse design, and dupatta styling.

Custom Bridal Lehengas

A bridal lehenga should feel deeply personal, beautifully crafted, and comfortable enough to carry you through the main wedding rituals and celebrations. At Anvi Couture, you can customise the silhouette, bridal colours, blouse design, embroidery placement, neckline, sleeves, and dupatta according to your preferences. Choose from luxurious fabrics and intricate techniques such as zardozi embroidery, resham work, gota patti, sequins, and detailed hand embroidery. Whether you envision a traditional red bridal lehenga, a sophisticated pastel bridal look, or a contemporary designer silhouette, our custom bridal lehengas are created to reflect your personality while complementing your wedding aesthetic.

Custom Reception Lehengas

Your reception is the perfect occasion to experiment with a more contemporary and polished interpretation of traditional Indian wear. A custom reception lehenga can combine luxurious fabrics such as silk, velvet, organza, or net with refined embroidery, statement blouses, modern silhouettes, and carefully balanced embellishment. You can customise the colour palette, blouse neckline, sleeve style, skirt volume, and dupatta to create a look that feels distinct from your wedding outfit. From elegant designer reception lehengas to sophisticated evening ensembles with subtle shimmer and intricate detailing, Anvi Couture can create an outfit designed specifically around your personal style and reception setting.

Custom Sangeet Lehengas

A sangeet celebration is all about music, dancing, photographs, and spending time with family and friends, so your outfit should offer both style and freedom of movement. Our custom sangeet lehengas can be designed with a lighter skirt, comfortable blouse construction, practical sleeve options, and breathable fabrics that allow you to enjoy the celebration without feeling restricted. Add sequins, gota patti embroidery, resham work, mirror-inspired details, or delicate embellishments for a festive finish. Whether you prefer a vibrant colour combination, a modern pastel palette, or a glamorous statement look, a designer sangeet lehenga can be customised to match your personality and the energy of your celebration.

Custom Mehendi Lehengas

Mehendi celebrations are often relaxed, colourful, and full of playful details, making them an ideal occasion to experiment with your outfit. A custom mehendi lehenga can feature bright colours, lightweight fabrics, comfortable silhouettes, and distinctive embroidery that works beautifully for daytime celebrations. At Anvi Couture, you can personalise everything from the skirt and blouse design to the dupatta, colour palette, and embroidery placement. Consider floral resham work, Kantha-inspired embroidery, delicate sequins, gota patti, or artistic motifs for a unique finish. Our designer mehendi lehengas are created to offer a balance of comfort, movement, festive charm, and individuality.

Custom Durga Puja & Festive Lehengas

Festive occasions such as Durga Puja are an opportunity to embrace traditional Indian fashion while adding your own contemporary touch. A custom festive lehenga can be designed using lightweight and comfortable fabrics, regional-inspired motifs, elegant embroidery, and colours suited to your celebration. Whether you are looking for an outfit for daytime pandal visits, evening gatherings, family celebrations, or festive events, we can customise the silhouette, blouse, dupatta, and embellishment according to the occasion. From graceful festive colours to statement embroidery, Durga Puja outfits and designer festive lehengas can be created to give you a distinctive look that feels traditional, comfortable, and effortlessly stylish.

Custom Bridesmaid Lehengas

A bridesmaid lehenga should complement the overall wedding aesthetic while allowing each bridesmaid to express her individual style. At Anvi Couture, we can customise bridesmaid lehengas around the wedding colour palette while adjusting the neckline, sleeve style, silhouette, embroidery, and level of embellishment for each person. You can coordinate the outfits through matching colours and embroidery while creating subtle differences in blouse designs, skirt styles, or dupattas. From elegant pastel bridesmaid outfits to vibrant wedding-ready ensembles, our custom bridesmaid lehengas are designed to create a coordinated yet personalised appearance that looks beautiful in photographs and feels comfortable throughout the celebrations.

Custom Lehengas Made Around You

Whether you need a heavily embroidered bridal lehenga, a sophisticated reception outfit, a lightweight sangeet ensemble, or a festive lehenga for a special celebration, our custom process begins by understanding how you want to look and feel on the day. At Anvi Couture, every detail can be discussed, from fabric and colour selection to silhouette, blouse construction, embroidery, dupatta styling, measurements, trial, and final fitting. Our custom lehenga designs are developed around your occasion, preferences, comfort, and desired aesthetic. The result is a bespoke lehenga that feels personal rather than simply selected from a ready-made collection.

Practical Experience Behind Every Custom Lehenga

Creating a good custom lehenga involves more than choosing a beautiful design. At Anvi Couture, we consider how the fabric will fall, how much embroidery the skirt can carry, how the blouse should be structured, and how the complete outfit will feel after several hours of wearing it.

Fabric Selection

Different fabrics behave differently during tailoring and embroidery. Silk and raw silk provide structure for fuller bridal skirts, while organza and net can create lighter volume and layered silhouettes. Velvet offers a richer finish for winter weddings, whereas georgette can work well when softness and movement are important.

Tailoring & Fitting

A custom lehenga needs careful measurements and construction because small changes can affect the way the skirt falls or the blouse sits on the body. We pay attention to waist placement, blouse length, neckline, sleeve fitting, skirt volume, and movement so the finished outfit feels comfortable as well as flattering.

Embroidery & Construction

The amount and placement of embroidery also influence how a lehenga feels. Heavy zardozi or stonework may require stronger fabric and careful weight distribution, while resham, Kantha, gota patti, or sequins can be used to create lighter designs with detail in selected areas.

Styling for the Occasion

The same silhouette does not work equally well for every celebration. A bridal lehenga may need richer embroidery and a fuller skirt, while a mehendi or Durga Puja outfit may benefit from lighter fabrics and easier movement. We consider the venue, time of day, season, jewellery, dupatta styling, and overall wedding look when developing the design.

Trial, Adjustments & Final Look

A lehenga can look different once it is actually worn, which is why the trial and fitting stage matters. We assess the blouse fit, skirt length, waist comfort, movement, and overall proportions before finalising the outfit, helping ensure that the finished lehenga looks cohesive and feels practical for the occasion.

FAQs

Where is the best lehenga store in Kolkata?

If you are looking for a bridal lehenga in Kolkata with custom sizing, personalized design options and different levels of embroidery, Anvi Couture is a strong choice. The brand offers bridal and designer lehengas for weddings, receptions, engagements and other celebrations, with options ranging from relatively simple designs to more detailed hand-embroidered bridal outfits. What makes Anvi Couture particularly useful for bridal shopping is the custom-made approach. Instead of selecting a standard size and making major compromises on fit, brides can discuss their measurements, preferred colour, fabric, embroidery and overall design before the outfit is made. For a bridal lehenga, it is also worth looking beyond the appearance of the outfit. Ask about the fabric, embroidery technique, lining, measurements, alterations and delivery timeline. These details can make a significant difference to how comfortable and well-fitted the lehenga feels on the wedding day.

What is the average cost of a bridal lehenga?

The cost of a bridal lehenga can vary considerably depending on the fabric, embroidery, craftsmanship, customization and amount of handwork involved. At Anvi Couture, bridal lehengas are available across different price points, making it possible to choose an outfit according to your wedding budget. A lighter or less heavily embroidered lehenga can start from around ₹15,000–₹20,000, while more detailed customized and hand-embroidered bridal designs can cost ₹40,000, ₹60,000 or more. For a customized bridal lehenga, the price should be considered together with what is included. A higher price may reflect better fabric, more extensive embroidery, additional handwork, a more complex design or customization. If you have a fixed budget, it is best to tell Anvi Couture your budget at the beginning. The design can then be planned around the amount you want to spend rather than choosing a design first and discovering later that it is outside your budget.

Where can I find affordable bridal lehengas?

If you want an affordable bridal lehenga without making the outfit look too simple, Anvi Couture offers options across different budgets. You do not necessarily need a very heavily embellished lehenga to create a bridal look. For example, you can keep the lehenga relatively clean and use zari, zardozi, sequin, pearl or other embroidery strategically on the blouse, border and dupatta. Choosing the right fabric and colour can also make a moderately priced lehenga look much more elaborate. Anvi Couture also provides customization, so you can discuss changes to the colour, embroidery, neckline, sleeves, silhouette and measurements. This can be useful when you have a particular bridal look in mind but do not want to pay for unnecessary embellishment. For brides shopping on a budget, a good approach is to decide the maximum amount you want to spend first and then select the fabric and embroidery level accordingly.

Which online store is the best for buying a lehenga?

For brides who want to purchase a lehenga online while still having the option of custom sizing and personalized design, Anvi Couture is a good option to consider. The online collection includes bridal, wedding and designer lehengas in different fabrics, colours and embroidery styles. Customers can also discuss customization when a standard design does not exactly match their requirements. Buying a bridal lehenga online requires more care than buying everyday clothing. Before placing an order, check the measurement process, fabric details, embroidery, blouse construction, dupatta, customization options, alteration policy and expected delivery date. Anvi Couture's custom-made approach is particularly useful for brides who want something closer to a made-to-measure outfit rather than simply ordering a standard-size lehenga. For a wedding outfit, the goal should not simply be to find the cheapest lehenga. It should be to find a lehenga that gives you the right balance of design, fabric, craftsmanship, fit and customization within your budget.
